Devotion has long been considered the essence of what has sustained yoga and Ayurveda for millennia. This module will examine the role of devotion in mind-body healing and for spiritual advancement. This training will explore Bhakti yoga in various forms with the body and how asanas can become not only therapeutic tools but also vehicles for transcending our consciousness to higher levels of awareness. Learn about the mystical meaning behind the classic yoga postures and the role of Bhakti yoga (love and devotion) to empower your yoga practice. Experience devotion to Mother Earth through the wisdom of Ayurveda and the rituals of self-care. We will practise various mantras, hymns and sacred poems for healing as well as study the moods or bhavas of the Bhakti yoga tradition. This module will also illustrate how to use sound as therapy and how to integrate certain considerations relative to the doshas.

Special emphasis will be placed on the power of attention or dharana in classical yoga, and we will explore various pranayama’s, sanskrit mantra (bijas, suktas and shakti mantras) and meditation as well as integrating various Ayurvedic remedies relative to specific mental conditions. We will learn and experience different Vedic chakra-mantra healing techniques similar to those found in Tantra yoga (but more ancient) and the use of singing bowls as practised in Buddhist meditations. In a broader sense, the branches of Bhakti (devotion) and Jnana (knowledge) yoga are studied as spiritual and psychological indicators and pathways to healing the mind. Other aspects include the psychology of personal space, social environment, and the principles of Ayurvedic lifestyle.

This 5-day programme takes you on a journey to discover aspects of Yoga and Ayurveda rarely taught in commercial centres.
