|Bre grew up in a small town in Wisconsin where yoga was not something people talked about, much less practised. As a competitive swimmer at university looking for something to do about her chronic anxiety, she signed up for a free yoga class on her campus. Little did Bre know that her first step on that rented purple mat in 2008 - with her seemingly mystical yoga teacher lugging a portable black boom-box - would start to shape her journey in life. Yoga has transformed Bre from someone plagued by depression and anxiety into a person of understanding and acceptance.|
Bre is grateful to have met her teacher Sooyeon Sri Jo, who encouraged her to follow her spirit and become a yoga teacher. In 2013, she completed her first teacher training under the guidance of Bhooma Chaitanya, who instilled in her the idea of yoga as an inward journey towards the self and away from fear and ignorance. Tarun Kranti Agrawal, with whom she had studied Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow, built on her foundational understanding of yoga and taught her the importance of understanding different students' states of mind and body to give the most beneficial adjustments and assists. Bre's teaching blossomed after training with Ana Forrest, who awakened Bre to be powerful and authentic in herself and in her teaching.
Bre's classes offer a dynamic approach with the body, an exploration of the mind and an awareness of the breath. The idea of awareness and harmony between the body, mind and breath is essential in her yoga classes. She will often remind you to leave your expectations and restrictive thoughts at the door. She believes the more fully present you are on the yoga mat, the more present you will be in all aspects of life-and the ability to seek understanding rather than judgement is imperative not only in understanding ourselves, but others.
